Open Studies
If your particular musical passion is not yet a part of the School of Music’s established curriculums, you may still be able to follow it here. Do you dream of managing a music organization, building organs, or developing your business acumen? Do you want to teach in an innovative studio? Maybe design psychoacoustic labs, create a special kind of jazz, or take a magical new interdisciplinary approach to music? At the University of Illinois you can design your major under the Open Studies option, get advice from faculty and administrators, and petition the Open Studies Committee for a unique undergraduate program leading to the Bachelor of Music degree.
