Computer Music Project
Music composition is at
root a lonely undertaking, but that doesn’t mean composers have
to be hermits. As part of the Experimental Music Studio (EMS), the
Computer Music Project (CMP) on the fifth floor of the Music Building
is a site where serious—even witty—composition faculty and
students can meet to share ideas and information. They can use the
facility for composing, research, and teaching—but also to
present their work to each other and prepare it for professional
meetings. The International Computer Music Conference (ICMC), Society
of Electro-Acooustic Music (SEAMUS), and SuperComputing conferences
augment the UIUC composers’ community. Sever Tipei manages CMP,
and Scott Wyatt directs the EMS. For more information, visit the
Computer Music Project web page.
