Admissions
Admission into the University of Illinois School of Music will be a significant turning point in your musical career. You will be among some of the world’s best educators and artists in their field as well as the most talented and promising students who will be learning side-by-side with you. It’s a rigorous process where we want to learn all about your talent, capabilities, and interests. Below describes the steps to admissions for both graduate and undergraduate admissions.

All applicants must apply to the University and the School of Music before an admission decision may be rendered.

Spring Application Deadlines

Enrollment for Spring 2006 is open to only Graduate Students and Undergraduate Transfer Students. Freshman applications are not accepted for Spring enrollment.

• October 15: Priorty Deadline for receipt of application and supporting materials
• November 1: Final Deadline for receipt of application and supportuing materials
• November 4: On-Campus audition date for Spring 2006 enrollment

Fall and Summer Application Deadlines

• September 15 - November 15: Priority filing period for applications for Fall 2006
• December 1: Deadline for receipt of prescreening materials - required for all graduate voice, conducting, and Music Education EdD candidates.

• January 2: Final deadline for receipt of freshman applications for Fall 2006
• January 15 - March 1: Filing period for transfer applications* for Fall or Summer 2006
• March 1: Deadline to complete audition in order to be considered for merit-based scholarships

Undergraduate Admissions

Undergraduate admission to the School of Music is a two-step process.

Step 1: All applicants must first apply to the University of Illinois.

Step 2: Complete the School of Music Application and audition/interview process.

Auditions and interviews are not scheduled until the applicant has applied to the University.

Graduate Admissions

Graduate admission is also a two-step process. However, admission at this level is processed entirely by the School of Music Admissions Office.
