Open Studies Curriculum (curriculum number 2438)

Open Studies is available by special action of a committee consisting of music faculty and administrators. Open Studies allows a student to concentrate on diverse fields such as music of other cultures, jazz, piano pedagogy, or other areas, and requires a minimum of 130 semester hours of credit for graduation. The basic musicianship core (courses in music theory, music history, ensemble, conducting, and major applied instrument study) and general education requirements parallel that for the music performance major. Additional information may be obtained from the Office of Undergraduate Studies in Music, Music Building Room 3030, or the Office of Enrollment Management and Student Services, Room 3019 Music Building.
