Organ & Harpsicord (Undergraduate)

Organ

Candidates may be admitted without previous organ study, in which case they must successfully complete a piano audition as outlined above. (Memorization of one work is sufficient.) Applicants already studying organ should audition on the organ, with repertoire including:

  1. At least one polyphonic composition, such as the Preludes and Fugues of Bach.
  2. A chorale prelude from the Orgelbüchlein of Bach.
  3. A composition form the 19th or 20th century.
  4. A four-part hymn setting.

Harpsichord

Three works that best show abilities and interests, including a Bach suite, or prelude and fugue from the Well-Tempered Clavier; two other works from one or both of the following categories: Scarlatti sonatas; French work (L. Couperin, F. Couperin, or Rameau).
